Statistics show that more than one out of every three students has tried drugs or alcohol by the age of 18. This problem is more widespread than just alcohol abuse. In many cases, tobacco, marijuana, prescription drugs and other illicit drugs are being abused. Most of the time this drug use is related to things all students face: stress, curiosity, physical changes or peer pressure.

Half of the students who experiment with addictive substances continue use and this results in the risk of developing substance use disorders. If you would like to talk with someone about any of these problems—whether for yourself or your loved one—please know you can speak to a trained addiction counselor right now.
